Brothers Todd and Thomas Nelson, and their father Hal, should close escrow in January on 158 acres west of Lincoln. With any luck, construction could begin next year on California’s first permanent stadium for motorcycling racing.
To be called the California Motocross Park, it would seat 14,000 – that’s roughly the size of Raley Field, for the River Cats. Luxury suites, restaurants and other amenities would be included. It’s near Thunder Valley Casino. Motocross features lightweight, rugged motorcycles executing jumps and turns on the man-made race course.
Planning officials in Placer County will review the project in February.
