Thick fog caused some flight cancellations at Sacramento International Airport Thursday and is blamed for a few accidents on local freeways.

Henning Mortensen – the owner of Bond Driving School in Sacramento – says motorists need to slow down. "It seems to be that they’re very comfortable in driving and they know their routes and know where they’re going and the problem there is that you’re driving in a different environment. Driving too fast and even driving the speed limit is in many, many cases way too fast in the fog."

Mortensen says drivers should also increase their following distance to allow more time for braking.

Meteorologists say we should get a break from the dense fog on Saturday night and Sunday when light rain is forecast.
