After Hurricane Katrina, the price of gasoline soared nationwide, as anxious talk about supply cutbacks and offline refineries spread deep concern. Gasoline peaked over $3 a gallon three months ago.
But the average price of gasoline in the Sacramento right now has dropped 25% from that high … at $2.30 a gallon. Diesel has seen a similar decline from its peak just two months ago. It’s $2.63. Both prices are well above what they were a year ago, but for concerned motorists, it’s good news at a time when many are scouring the region for those perfect gifts.
