Used car auctions for solely for wholesale buyers are common enough in California … but the Alameda County Auction in Dublin runs a similar version for the public. And now they’ve signed a lease for a 2nd site, at the former McClellan Air Force base in Sacramento. Their new auction opens next spring, indoors.
Like Dublin, they’ll keep about 500 cars in inventory for daily sales, none over 5 years old. And once a month they’ll hold a public auction. In Dublin it’s a big sales tax generator, along with Costco and Home Depot. Here they expect to bring in $60 million from annual vehicle sales.
The company expects to draw people even from Reno and Redding.
