Right now, most DMV offices only accpet cash, check or money orders. But spokesman Mark Miller says ATM cards will help shorten lines.
"It’s basically a new convenience designed to provide faster service and further reduce lines and wait times for customers around the state so they can get through their DMV experience that much faster and be all the happier for it."
Every week an increasing number of field offices will start accepting ATM cards. The first local office to accept the cards will be in Roseville on November 30th. The Broadway office in Sacramento will begin accepting them on December 7th and the Carmichael office is set to go online December 14th.
