During services at Adventure Christian Church, Stevens was remembered as a committed officer.
"Andy, I love you with all my heart and soul."
Fellow CHP officer Robert Hays was Stevens’ best friend.
"I cherish the day we meet again, for your warm embrace, that toothless grin and your sunburnt cheeks. Ride on my brother to a better place."
CHP officer Kelly Baraga says Stevens was also passionate about motorcycles. He was president of the Auburn chapter of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle group.
"That was one of his passions. He really loved riding his bike. He was always just a great guy – big smile, huge heart."
Stevens was inspired to be a CHP officer by the TV show ChiPs. CHP Commissioner Mike Brown said Stevens made the ultimate sacrifice.
"He did his duty. It’s an incredible thing to ask, it’s an even more incredible thing to give."
Stevens was shot to death last Thursday. Three people charged with his death have been arraigned at the Yolo County Courthouse.
