Authorities are calling it the Golden Guardian Full Scale Homeland Security Exercise.
"We’re going to have several explosions and we’re going to have everybody all suited up. It’s going to be a full scale exercise."
Dale Chessey with the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services says the annual drill allows multiple response and prevention agencies from all branches of government to work together.
Drills will also go on at two other sites Tuesday: the Roseville Railyards and Jack London Square in Oakland. Chessey says the $1.7 Million exercise is paid for with Homeland Security money.
"Afterwards we have an after action report and we figure out what worked and what didn’t work and see how we can be even better prepared."
Overall, about 2,500 emergency workers will be participating in Tuesday's drill. Motorists should avoid Tower Bridge between 8:30 AM and 2 PM.
