The House of Representatives on Thursday passed a measure allocating more than $28 million to water projects linked to flood control and the American River.
$10 million is included toward development and construction of a new Folsom Bridge. It would be the long-awaited alternative to the Folsom Dam Road, which was closed after 9/11 due to security concerns. Nearly $20 million would pay for Folsom Dam modifications and other improvements along the American River.
The bill still needs approval by the U.S. Senate, but House passage is considered a big step forward.
