The voters at a northern Stanislaus County polling site streamed in when the doors opened at seven o'clock yesterday morning. Many were on their way to work and cast their ballots as quickly as possible. Some took time to talk about what brought them out to vote on eight statewide initiatives, four of which were backed by Governor Schwarzenegger. Kathy Sbragia says Schwarzenegger is moving the state in the right direction.
"I believe he's truly motivated to try to do the best thing for California so I supported most of his thoughts."
At the French Camp precinct in San Joaquin County Darwin Andrade said he voted against the governor's initiatives.
"He's just making his own agenda for himself for political reasons."
Most voters said their primary reason for casting ballots was the initiatives, not the local issues like school board races or school bond issues. One exception was in Yolo County where a controversial growth measure for the city of Davis brought out large numbers of voters
