The giant HMO and health system received approval last month to buy land in the fast-growing corridor along Interstate 5. A spokesperson stressed that Kaiser has no immediate plans for any buildings.
But Kaiser is looking for about 50 acres, roughly the size of its emerging campus in Folsom. Preliminary plans in Folsom call for a 25-year buildout with a surgery center, offices, and a 430-bed hospital.
Kaiser provides care to more than half of all the HMO members in Greater Sacramento … with 56,000 member in eastern Yolo County and Natomas who might one day be a patient base. At the moment Natomas is under-served, when it comes to physicians and facilities … but all the major health systems have it in their sights.
