City Councilman Ray Tretheway
Sacramento City Council members will consider an anti-war resolution Tuesday night.
The measure calls on Congress and President Bush to withdraw all US troops from Iraq. It’s co-sponsored by councilman Ray Tretheway who says the war is taking money away from local programs including education, healthcare and levee protection.
"It’s affecting our ability on many of the quality of life and basic social services that we depend on federal funding to provide the services. It’s impacting our city, it’s impacting our state, it’s impacting our nation."
The resolution – co-sponsored by council member Lauren Hammond – calls for a humane, orderly and rapid withdrawl of US troops.
San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago have all passed similar measures.
