The one, and so far, only television ad by opponents of Proposition 73 focuses on the issue of potential dangers for teenage girls if the measure passes.

Prop 73 would require doctors to notify the parents of an underage girl 48 hours before performing an abortion.  No on 73 campaign manager Steve Smith says the ad highlights the possibility that some girls could seek unsafe alternatives.

“This is a very emotional issue that is best debated in a very calm fashion, this ad essentially does that.”
Supporters of the initiative say the TV ad shows the opposition’s true feelings—that parents are dispensable. They say they’ll run radio ads in these final weeks of the campaign.
