JH: Tai Murray’s been with the Sacramento Philharmonic before.

Ming Luke: She performed with the Sacramento Philharmonic, I believe three years ago, playing the Korngold concerto. She’s a Juilliard grad, and there’s a rumor that while she was studying at Juilliard, she made it a mission to study and complete one concerto a week.

JH: I’ve noticed that Michael likes to program a real familiar piece, which would be the Beethoven concerto, a somewhat less familiar piece, which would be the Prokofiev, and then something altogether out of the blue, which would be the Tilson Thomas.

Ming Luke: (laughs) Michael’s big motto is that there’s something for everybody.

JH: Specifically, Morgan will conduct the Beethoven Violin Concerto, and Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony, and Michael Tilson Thomas’ Agnegram, a four minute appetizer celebrating the 90th birthday of a northern California music program The Sacramento Philharmonic performs Saturday at 8 in the Sacramento Community Center Theater.
