All five suspects did concrete work under the company names of Aloha, TJ, Little Junior and All-Seasons.

California State Contractors Board spokeswoman Pamela Mares says investigators received numerous consumer complaints. "About shoddy workmanship and all of these people were unlicensed. They had been soliciting by putting business cards at houses and fliers. So that’s something to watch out for if somebody goes to you."

She says consumers should be especially hesitant when approached by someone offering home improvement services door-to-door.

The suspects are all repeat offenders and face felony charges which could bring three months in jail.
