The 122 year old building will be moved two blocks down Front Street. It’s being moved because property owners have other plans for the current site.
Rocklin Historical Society president Roy Ruhkala says the church will become the centerpoint of the town’s new historic district. "We have a lot of growth in Rocklin now and a lot of people don’t know what it is or anything and that’s why we’re trying to save it because we don’t have many old buildings."
The chuch is moving to Heritage Park at Front Street and Rocklin Road.
City planners created the new park, which will also include replica buildings from Rocklin’s past, to remove blight from the downtown area and highlight the town’s 19th Century railroad heritage.
