The city's transportation department is holding a public open house Thursday about its Central City Parking Master Plan.

Spokeswoman Linda Tucker says the ever-present parking issue is weighing heavy on the minds of city staff.

“We’re doing it because there’s a lot of new development in the downtown and central city area on the horizon and we really needed to take a look at if we do develop our downtown where will people park in the future?”

Some of the goals of the master plan include supplying enough parking to meet demand, making city-owned parking financially sound and promoting alternative modes of transportation.

Thursday’s open house will be held at the YWCA on 17th Street from 4:30 to 7 P-M.
