It’s part of Operation Pet Lift. Texas oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens chartered a plane that left Baton Rouge for California with some 80 dogs aboard. The Sacramento SPCA received 14 of them and Executive Director Rick Johnson says the dogs will soon be ready for temporary homes.

"We will be holding these animals in a quarantine for about one week and then after that one week we will be looking to put the animals out in foster homes."

He says if the dogs’ owners can’t be found, the animals will be put up for adoption. The Sacramento SPCA is expecting to receive up to 60 more animals in the coming days.
