The $12 million dollar building will replace Comcast’s old and outmoded operations plant on Pell Drive. It will sit on nine acres on National Drive and be finished by next summer.
It will give the Philadelphia-based cable giant a modernized work space and enough room locally to hire another one hundred seventy five technicians. It will also pave the way for Comcast to offer for the first time, local telephone service, next year. That will be bundled in with its cable TV offerings such as on-demand and high-definition programs, digital video recording and high-speed Internet services.
The company now has 425 local employees.
