It was a disaster in the Deep South, but California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is now being criticized for not doing enough to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Schwarzenegger has sent over a hundred C-H-P officers to New Orleans. Underwater search teams are on their way as are tons of food, water, and supplies. But at the state Capitol, Democratic Assemblyman Mervyn Dymally says the governor has not done enough. "The NAACP has joined with the Black Caucus in calling upon him to do as little or as much as he does for his own campaign, by calling on his rich friends in Hollywood and across the state to respond to this crisis."
Also at the Capitol the anti-war women’s group Code Pink is urging the governor to bring California National Guard troops home from Iraq so they can be redeployed to the Gulf Coast, or at least be ready for any disaster that may strike California. The governor’s supporters in the legislature say he’s doing all that’s possible to aid Katrina’s victims.
