Kim Berry recently appeared on “Lou Dobbs Tonight” on CNN to decry the federal department of Labor’s H-1B visa program. His complaint is that the program annually allows at least 65,000 foreign workers to be hired by U.S. companies, instead of American engineers.

Berry, president of the Programmers Guild, wants Congress to require the Department of Labor to let American workers compete for those same jobs. He argues American engineers are now being bypassed by tech companies importing low cost labor.

Tech companies argue that cost isn’t the issue, that foreign born techies have skills they can’t find in American engineers.
