Trinity Cathedral is the largest Episcopal congregation in the area with more than two thousand members. The congregation now seats three hundred fifty, but needs more room, so an expansion is in the works. The design includes seven hundred seats on the ground floor and another two hundred fifty in a balcony semi-circle. So far the church has commitments of three million dollars toward construction of the addition which will likely cost more than fourteen million dollars. The cathedral project parallels the planned four hundred fifty million dollar renovation of the Sutter Medical Center, and new home for the B Street Theatre.
