There was plenty of puffing and panting for a good cause on Friday evening, when serious athletes as well as families just out for a pleasant stroll, took part in the 7th annual Sacramento Race for the Arts. Amanda, from Sacramento, was adding her support.

“I’m doing this because I think we need more funds and more stuff for arts for our kids and our community.”

And, for more professional reasons, so was Rank Holder.

“I live in Sacramento and I’m a musician.  So I’m supporting my lifestyle.”

After the race, participants relaxed in Crocker Park. According to event coordinator Sally Rice, last year’s event raised over $150,000, and over 80 regional arts groups have benefited over the years. Results from this year’s event are expected in mid September.
