Developer Mark Friedman has enlarged his vision for 50 acres by the ball park. Later this month he’ll ask West Sacramento officials to authorize 3,000 condos and apartments, up from his original target of 1,750.
The unique project would create a half mile of landscaped river front where it’s currently just brush, trees, and decrepit industrial buildings. His idea is a Eurostyle downtown, with offices and stores, and an oval park. Residential buildings would rise as much as 20 stories. Friedman hopes to have the authorization to start building in 2007.
His financial partner is the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians, which owns the Cache Creek Casino.
