Thursday afternoon, workers were putting the finishing touches on the track of a roller coaster along the midway, while outside the Livestock Pavilion,14-year-old Christie Hobby and her Dad gave her show-goats a bath— she had one word to describe the eight-month-old Red Leg and her loud behavior.
“She’s a rookie."
In the food court area, cooks and helpers were also readying for the onslaught of hungry fair-goers Charlie Boghosian is serving up something new at Chicken Charlie’s-- deep fried avocado.
“Mixed a little lemon and a little garlic in the batter and it came out real good."
Other new elements of the fair this year—it’s running longer, 22 days instead of eighteen, but it’s dark on Mondays, giving everybody a little break from the hustle and bustle.
