Rocks strewn by gold miners more than a century ago are in for a ride. These tailings from gold dredgers will be transferred on an electric conveyor system to Teichert’s existing gravel operation along Grantline Road.

Teichert expects to move up to 15 million tons of cobbles, sand and gravel from the 580-acre site within seven years. Coming in on its heels will be more housing, part of the Rio Deo Oro project being developed by Elliott Homes and Gen Corp.

Opposition is negligent. A new plant isn’t being built, and the conveyor system sidesteps the impacts of big new truck traffic and air pollution.

Teichert is the nation’s 10th largest sand and gravel operator, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
