Sacramento City Fire Chief Julius Cherry says they don’t know the exact cause of the fire at the two-story office building but they know it was not set intentionally. "This is not, I repeat, this is not an arson caused fire."

Cherry says the fire started in a 30-inch void space between the two floors. "Apparently there was a smoldering fire in that area for some period of time. Once you get an ignition source, you get what people commonly refer to as an explosion."

Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearm and Explosives Special Agent Jeff Fulton says too many factors make it nearly impossible to pinpoint its cause. "We don’t believe anybody’s every going to be able to determine that this piece of equipment or this wire was the ignition source."

The building contained a dialysis clinic and medical offices. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and damages are estimated at up to $10 Million.
