Last month, the diocese paid $35 Million to settle claims of clergy sexual abuse. Now the Survivor’s Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) wants the diocese to publicize the names of pedophile priests.

SNAP Spokeswoman Nancy Sloan says other churches are doing it. “We’re not asking for anything that hasn’t already happened with several of their colleagues: Milwaukee, Baltimore and even Los Angeles list perpetrators.”

Diocese spokesman Kevin Eckery says they’re already doing enough to prevent any future abuse. “New training, new efforts to screen seminarians, creating an 800 number to encourage people to report, working with law enforcement.”

But SNAP members say posting the names of abusive priests would help victims heal and warn parents.
