California Highway Patrol officers in a helicopter spotted the plants Monday afternoon.
"This is definitely the largest grow in the city of Folsom in quite some time," said Folsom Police Department spokesman Kurt Knudsen. He says the plants were growing in a wetlands area between Glenn Drive and Folsom Boulevard. "It was very hard to get to. Most of the officers sunk waist deep into mud. When they got to the grow area, they located between approximately 50 to 60 mature marijuana plants, anywhere from 5 feet tall to 8 feet tall."
The plants were pulled out and destroyed. Based on what they found, investigators believe this is the second year of production. "So if they had a good year last year, then the total catch would probably be about $ 362,000 dollars."
Investigators found evidence on the scene but aren’t commenting on any leads.
