The National Weather Service says we’ll see triple digits. Forecaster Robert Barfaldey says temperatures could go up to 108 degrees. "We have a big ridge of high-pressure that’s currently building over the area and it just looks like hot weather all this week and this weekend."
He suggests limiting strenuous outdoor activities, especially in the afternoon, and drinking plenty of fluids this week.
Meantime, SMUD officials say give big appliances a break. "All the appliances you use, like dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, even the refrigerator have little motors in them that generate heat and that heat just goes into the living space that you’re trying to keep cool."
Hugh Fowler of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District says limit the use of appliances to early mornings or late evenings. He also advises to keep the heat out of your home by keeping windows, blinds and drapes closed.
