Speaking to reporters in Sacramento, Democrat Boxer said she has great sympathy for the London victims. She says the U S government must work closely with the Brits. "We just have to work with them and redouble our efforts to get these terrorists, to break the back of Al Quiada. We have to do it. And I believe we can do it, if that’s where we are focusing our attention."
Boxer said she has proposed and the U S Senate has passed several bills toughening security at ports and railroad terminals. But she said the House of Representatives has not acted.
Boxer was in Sacramento to participate in the renaming of the city’s main Federal Building. It is now the Robert T. Matsui Federal Courthouse, named for the late congressman who represented Sacramento in the House for 26 years.
