Associate athletic director Bob Bullis says the new facility is long overdue and will replace Toomey Field which was built over 50 years ago. "We just cannot support a crowd and provide the kind of services to people, just simple things, restrooms, concessions. So the new stadium is going to provide all of those things and it’s going to be absolutely marvelous for us."
The new stadium, which will seat 16,000, will be the home field for Aggies football and the women’s lacrosse team. It’ll also be used for concerts and other community events. It’s scheduled to open in the fall of 2006. The money to pay for the stadium comes from student-based fees, private donations and other revenues.
