The four day event kicked off Friday. The festival features 125 bands in venues all over the city.
On KXJZ’s Insight, jubilee director Roger Krum said they’ve added different kinds of music to broaden the festival’s appeal, especially to local audiences. "Half of our attendees are from out of the area, primarily jazz fans, half of our attendees are local attendees who are fans of the event, not necessarily the music so we have added in recent years some zydeco music and then blues and then in more recent years Latin jazz."
Ticket prices start at $18 and free shuttle service is provided between venues. Jubilee organizers say the event brings in about $28 Million to the local economy.
