Since it was unveiled last month, venture capitalist F-Noel Perry says his website has received about ten-thousand hits to play the “California Budget Challenge”.  It’s an educational tool that allows individuals to create their own simplified state budget,  make their own policy and spending choices—and the necessary tradeoffs

It may seem like something a true budget wonk would love—but Perry says the online presentation is designed to draw Californians to a more active role in planning state’s future.  “What we want to do is start that dialogue and get more Californians engaged in thinking about this,” he says.

One of the benefits of the game may be players get to avoid the convoluted political process that goes with approving a budget. It’s located at www-dot-next-hyphen-ten-dot-org.
