“Five Course Love” is a sort of progressive dinner, with a different version of romance served during each stop along the way. For instance, there’s a date in a 1950’s diner….

And there’s some German cabaret decadence….

And there’s some over-the-top Latin American passion…

This show is a musical smorgasbord, with composer Gregg Coffin – a rising star -- having fun matching witty lyrics with several different musical styles. The show is quick on its feet, light-hearted, and a bit of a tease – I mean, we all know where sudden romance can lead. It’s a small show, with a hard-working cast of three – and it’s a tidy 90 minutes, with no intermission. But it’s a very enjoyable ride. “Five Course Love” is at the Sacramento Theater Company through May 22.
