The Stockton Ports, now an affiliate of the Oakland "A's", will spend the first three weeks of the season on the road, but on April 28th they'll play their home opener against the San Jose Giants at Banner Island Ballpark in downtown Stockton. The game sold out last month.

Ports' Spokesman Michael Swope says a lot of fans are expected at the new, 22-million dollar facility.

"We're guessing about 45-hundred fans a game and the ballpark only holds 52-hundred, so you're going to see a lot of sellouts, especially on the weekends. "

Swope says some 13-hundred season tickets have been sold so far, more than double the number from last year. In 2004, the Ports averaged about one thousand a game.

A spokesman says the average attendance for the ten teams in the single-A, California League last year, was about 28-hundred a game.
