Abe Alizadeh, owner of Kobra Properties in Placer County, has cut a deal to buy the Triple-A Portland Beavers baseball team and that city’s pro soccer team, the Timbers. The acquisition came together with the help of Art Savage, owner of the Sacramento Rivercats, which is also in the Pacific Coast League.
Savage has been overseeing the Portland teams for the current ownership … and Alizadeh does have some restaurant interests in Portland … so the two friends each have a local tie.
Alizadeh started his career as a Jack in the Box franchisee, and believes good customer service has been a problem for the Portland teams and their fans. The Beavers will host the River Cats for their home opener in mid-April. A sale price has not been disclosed.
