Regional Transit and Sacramento city officials are stepping ahead to improve access to the Amtrak station where it is now … not where it will be some day, if stalled negotiations between Union Pacific Railroad and developer Milennia Associations ever move forward. Neither party will comment on the status of things.
Short-term plans include opening a light-rail line to the depot, which has a new roof. Parking lots will be repaved. Walkways, lights, and signage will be improved. The city’s long-term dream is for a new station, north of the existing one, but it’s at least 15 years away.
