SACTO is funded by cities, counties and businesses to sell the region with one voice. The goal is to draw new companies…and the emphasis can shift. At one time the agency was focused more internationally.

The new initiative, with a five-year commitment that’s unbudgeted as yet, will key on certain industries.  High tech, which includes the life sciences and medical device makers. Financial services and certain types of manufacturing. And information technology, which includes telecommunications.

Nearly half a million more jobs are expected in the region by 2030 … and companies like these would be stronger additions to the economic mix.
