In February the Woodland City Council unanimously approved plans for the Gateway auto mall and retail center, near Interstate 5. Questions from county officials about taking this prime farmland out of production were given short shrift, in the county’s view.
Now the Yolo County supervisors have petitioned the Yolo County Superior Court to stop the 55-acre project, to allow a more thorough environmental study.
The project site is within city limits. The Target store at the ailing County Fair Mall in Woodland would reportedly be relocated to this site if the project is built.
