The underground eco-terrorist group the Earth Liberation Front is believed responsible for starting fires at sites in Lincoln, Auburn and Sutter Creek according to the F-B-I. Steve Madison of the Building Industry Association of Central California says there haven’t been any terrorist incidents in Merced and Stanislaus counties, but after learning of the fires in the Sacramento area, there’s concern among builders the E-L-F might strike construction sites on former farmland. MADISON :10—Many of the incidents have occurred in rural areas and a lot of our builders are building in areas that could be considered rural and we want to keep a close eye on that. Madison says security at construction sites has been heightened in recent years because of escalating thefts of building materials and equipment. Rewards totaling 150-thousand dollars are being offered for information leading to arrest and conviction of the arsonists in the Sacramento region. The E-L-F did not respond to an e-mail about terrorist incidents. Bob Hensley KXJZ News.
