County elections officials say there’s a lot of interest in the seat. Right now we have 11 people who have been issued paperwork. Campaign Services Manager Brad Buyse says all qualified candidates will be listed on one ballot and voters will make their choice during a special primary election on March 8th. If one candidate received 50 plus one percent of the vote then they will be elected to that seat, if not there’ll be a runoff 8 weeks later which is the date set by Governor Schwarzenegger and that was May 3rd. Matsui’s widow – Doris – has already filed her paperwork as has Sacramento businessman and Republican John Flynn. Sacramento Green Party activist Pat Driscoll says he’s also a candidate.
