The Sacramento native first made his mark in 1989, when he created the St. Hope Academy for young boys for after-school support. He’s been revitalizing Oak Park with his Kynship Development Company, and now has two new projects. At 34th and Broadway he has announced plans to build a four-story building with 48 apartments atop stores and offices on the ground floor. And just up the block, at 35th Street, Johnson is embarking on a similar project, but with 22 apartments. It’s part of his continuing 40 acres projects to rejuvenate Oak Park, which has already included rehabbing an old theater and the Woodruff Hotel building.
