More than 600 people have so far asked for information about renting one of the new Lemon Hill Townhomes now under construction. However, this project by the Sacramento Mutual Housing Association will have just 74 apartment units … and they’re the first new affordable housing in that area in more than a decade. The 2, 3, and 4 bedroom apartments will have rents tied to income. To qualify, a family of four has to earn less than $32,000. It’s a first-come, first-served list … which will leave many disappointed applicants in a Sacramento housing market that is increasingly difficult for low income people.
