Ramanee DaSilva and other members of the West Sacramento temple on Glide Avenue are collecting donated money, food and clothes to send to survivors. She says so far, the response has been great. We have been answering the phone from morning to day. DaSilva says the local Sri Lankan community is mobilizing to help their homeland. My family’s okay but really we are worried about the future of the country. We have never experienced something like that before. They’re asking for donations of any kind. We need almost everything like tents, blankets, actually we need like summer clothes because it’s hot there in Sri Lanka right now, flashlights and batteries, you name it because they are like in the dark now, they don’t have nothing, everything got washed away so we are collecting everything possible. Temple monks are preparing to hold a memorial service this Saturday. Steve Milne - KXJZ news.
