Home Depot began selling appliances at its Sacramento stores in September 2001. Based on sales volume, it’s become the third most popular place for Americans looking to buy cooktops, dishwashers, freezers and other big appliances. Home Depot says it market share has been steadily on the increase. Now customers will be able to buy large appliances online, through the home depot website. A company employee will phone customers afterward to arrange delivery. It comes at a time when Amazon has been reporting strong success with its move into electronics, and online retailing grows in acceptance.
