Rocklin Police Lieutenant Steve Newman says motorists who insist on drinking and driving can plan on a trip to jail. We’re going to do a combination of DUI checkpoints, saturation patrols and we’re going to do warrant sweeps for the holidays. Newman says Driving-Under-the-Influence is a growing problem in the area. As congestion has increased over the years in Placer County, the number of drunk drivers have gone up. During last year’s holiday season there were six alcohol and drug-related injury or fatal traffic accidents and 120 D-U-I arrests in Placer County. The maximum enforce patrols will stay in effect through New Year’s Day. Steve Milne - KXJZ news.
