Whoever gets the job will be filling a seat vacated when Mayor Christopher Cabaldon (cah-BALL-done) was sworn in last month. City manager Toby Ross says interest in the position has been overwhelming. We had over almost 30 applicants for the position. It certainly was more than I expected. I anticipated we might get a half a dozen or so. Ross says it shows that local citizens care about their town. Well it certainly a level of interest in serving community that was surprising and encouraging. After screening applicants earlier this week, city officials pared the list down to 10 prospective candidates. City council members will publicly interview the finalists at City Hall tonight (Thursday). Their choice to fill the seat will then take the oath of office immediately. Steve Milne - KXJZ news.
