Tuesday, December 14, 2004
The company is called Gardner Technologies and they make the MetaCork, which uses threaded glass and a special capsule to seal wine bottles with a cork and open them without a corkscrew. Company founder William Gardner says Mondavi pulled back on a deal to use the cork in its wines. It’s very hard for us to understand how individuals responsible at Mondavi could simply walk away from a contract of this sort. Essentially the door was just slammed on us and we were giving no alternative. Gardner says Mondavi management caused his company to lose Millions of dollars in potential investments. Officials at Mondavi did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Steve Milne - KXJZ news.
