The Manpower poll shows that over half of the companies interviewed plan to hire during the first quarter of 2005. 55-percent of the organizations we surveyed planned to add staff in the first quarter. Only 3-percent were expecting cutbacks. That is so much stronger than we had just last quarter. Manpower’s local general manager Mike Dourgarian says one reason local employers are hiring is because the population is growing so fast. Many of the job categories that are expanding are here to either prepare for new people to move to the Sacramento area or to serve our growing population. Job prospects appear best in construction, manufacturing and transporation and utilities. Manpower is a temporary help agency. The company conducts employment surveys every quarter.
