California Jobless Rate Falls again to 5.5 Percent

The jobless rate fell last month to five point seven percent of the state workforce, down from five point eight per cent in October. State chief economist Howard Roth says he doesn't expect the rate to go much lower. CUT: HowardRoth18 :18 A year ago the state jobless rate was six point six per cent. The Employment Development Department reports that according to a survey of households, a record sixteen point seven million California had jobs last month. The number of officially unemployed was just over one million, down twenty thousand from October. SOC
